After bearing two children, Gina’s breasts increased in size causing pain to her neck, back and shoulders. The size of her breasts interrupted her level of physical activity; she started to feel insecure and uncomfortable. Through word-of-mouth and research, she found Dr. Tracy Pfeifer, a board-certified plastic surgeon based in New York, who recommended a breast reduction procedure.
A breast reduction, also known as reduction mammoplasty, is a surgical procedure to reduce the size of ones breasts and reshape them so that they are proportionate to the rest of the body and are no longer a source of physical discomfort.
“Dr. Pfeifer informed me that because I have back history my health insurance might be able to cover this procedure,” noted Gina.
“It turns out when you talk to people, that a lot of women don’t know that the insurance could cover this procedure if you experience neck and back pain as a result of the weight from large breasts,” explains Dr. Pfeifer.
Two days post-surgery, Gina was up and walking. “It felt great because my back pain was gone and I stood straighter. I got my confidence back and I couldn’t be happier!” exclaimed Gina.
“We took off a significant amount of weight and I would say that it has been a transformative experience for Gina,” explained Dr. Pfeifer.
